Owners Given 3 Months to Retrieve Seized Vehicles

The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the SEC, has approved amendments to Decision No. (3) of 2016 concerning the disposal of impounded vehicles in the Emirate.

The meeting, held Tuesday at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, was attended by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, both Deputy Rulers of Sharjah and Vice Chairmen of the SEC. The Council reviewed several matters related to government performance, public policies, and strategies to align with the Emirate’s vision.

Under the amended decision, impounded vehicles that remain unclaimed for three months may be disposed of. The Committee for the Disposal of Impounded Vehicles will oversee public auctions for cars seized in traffic or criminal cases, three months after accident files are closed or judicial rulings are issued, in coordination with the Public Prosecution.

The move follows directives from His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to boost operational efficiency across government entities.
