Phoenix Group of Abu Dhabi Begins Construction on an 18 MW AI Data center in France

Phoenix Group PLC (ADX: PHX), a worldwide digital infrastructure operator and IHC portfolio business with its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, has announced a strategic alliance with DC Max to build its first AI data center in Europe, an 18MW facility in Lyon. The action represents Phoenix’s official entry into the European AI infrastructure sector and is part of the company’s larger plan to expand into high-performance computing and digital infrastructure.

The project will be the first implementation of Phoenix’s European Data Center Platform, a scalable platform aimed at delivering more than 1 GW of combined high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) capacity across Europe and the GCC. Phoenix’s goal of creating a massive global AI infrastructure platform will be accelerated by the agreement, which will grant Phoenix privileged access to DC Max’s development pipeline, which is believed to be worth $8 billion.

Phoenix affirmed that it had already obtained the property for the Lyon project, along with the necessary permits, grid connection, and power. Delivery is anticipated between the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028, with construction starting in July 2026.
