President Directs the Launch of ‘Naseej’ to Overhaul the UAE Textile Industry

Under the Direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ‘Naseej’, the National Initiative for Textile Circularity, was established as a strategic mandate to help the textile sector transition to a circular economic model.

Naseej seeks to shift the industry away from linear consumption and disposal and toward an integrated model that conserves resources, captures economic value, and aligns sustainability with long-term national growth.

Naseej, formed through a strategic cooperation between the National Projects Office, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, the Emirates Foundation, and the Tadweer Group, is a unified national platform that coordinates policy, industry action, research, and public engagement across the textile value chain.

Rooted in the UAE’s tradition of preservation, craftsmanship, and ingenuity, Naseej is inspired by the historic role textiles have played in the lives of its people and the country’s economic progress. The program is based on these values and aims to promote national efforts to integrate circular thinking into everyday routines.

Sheikha Mariam Bint Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Court for National Projects, stated that “Naseej reaffirms the UAE’s commitment to sustainability as a shared national responsibility.” It reflects a forward-thinking perspective that turns obstacles into long-term possibilities by promoting positive behaviour change, supporting responsible resource use, and enabling community engagement and volunteering.
