Forty-seven National Testing Agency officials were fired on Friday after India’s Prime Minister Modi recommended strong action against paper leaks on July 23. Amendments were also adopted to enhance the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act of 2024. Legal and criminal action is being taken against those responsible, authorities have stated on social media channels. Over the last three days, officials have repeatedly jammed networks and/or turned down internet data services to restrict crowds at the New Delhi demonstration.
Modi stated in a social media post on Thursday that his cabinet would explore ways to expedite legal procedures against individuals engaged in examination leaks. Wangchuk, who finished a 26-day hunger fast in favor of the campaign late Thursday, claimed that the administration had guaranteed him that no action would be taken against peaceful protesters.

The protests erupted on Monday, when police shot tear gas and batons at tens of thousands of people in New Delhi, the city’s biggest street rally in five years.
