In a recent announcement, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) stated that it is continuing its efforts to develop and finish natural gas network projects in the Central Region. These initiatives are intended to fulfilll the ever-increasing requirements of the local populace, improve the quality of service throughout the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, and provide energy that is secure, environmentally friendly, and reasonably priced, so contributing to an overall improvement in the quality of life.
Toward this end, SEWA is in the process of implementing four significant projects that will include the expansion and modernisation of the natural gas network in the Central Region. These projects would require a total expenditure of more than 18.838 million Dhs.
Engineer Ibrahim Al Balghouni, who is the Director of the Natural Gas Department at SEWA, explained that the plan for expanding the natural gas network in the Central Region includes the second phase of the main Al Bataeh gas pipeline extension. This extension will reach Al Dhaid and finish the loop around the Tal Al Zaafaran neighbourhood. It is anticipated that the 27-kilometer project, which has a value of 7.73 million Dhs, will be finished in November 2026. The project has reached 70 percent of its completion.
He went on to say that among the projects that SEWA has been working on since the beginning of this year is the construction of a natural gas network in Al Dhaid City, which will encompass the neighbourhoods of Jebel Omar and Tal Al Zaafaran. A total of 286 structures in Tal Al Zaafaran and 164 buildings in Jebel Omar will be able to profit from the project, which has a total area of 63,574 meters and a value of 5.25 million dirhams.
