Through its Jordanian office, TRENDS Global, a division of TRENDS Group, took part in the international conference Knights of the Message – Leaders of the Moral Journey, which was organised by the Knights of Peace organization and took place in Amman.
Researchers, scholars, and officials from many Arab and regional nations attended the meeting. She clarified that the UAE’s experience progressively moved from institutionalising tolerance and coexistence at home to using them as tools of foreign diplomacy through multilateral cooperation, interfaith discussion, mediation, and humanitarian efforts, bolstering the nation’s soft power and global presence.
The paper “The Diplomacy of Tolerance and Peace: The UAE Model of Coexistence and International Presence” by Alia Darwish Al Nuaimi, Senior Researcher at TRENDS, examined the UAE’s experience in converting tolerance and coexistence from national ideals into instruments of international diplomatic engagement.
Al Nuaimi examined the origins of tolerance in the United Arab Emirates, tracing it back to the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the country’s founding father. He also discussed how tolerance has contributed to the development of society, the consolidation of coexistence principles, and the reconciliation of opposing opinions. She clarified that this strategy subsequently changed as a result of national and international initiatives, as well as institutional and legal frameworks.
