The White House Prevents Microsoft from Employing Foreign Workers

The White House has prohibited Microsoft and a number of other major companies from employing skilled foreign workers permanently through a popular visa program. On Thursday, Vise President JD Vance accused Microsoft and other companies of engaging in fraud by using the H-1B visa program and a related procedure for foreign workers to get permanent residency in the United States.

According to Vance, one of the most lucrative firms in the US, Microsoft, has been essentially replacing American labour with “foreign indentured servants.” According to Microsoft, the majority of H-1B visas applied for during the previous fiscal year were for current employees, who receive the same compensation as local employees.Microsoft is the US corporation that has misused this system the most, according to Vance. Similar charges were also made against Adobe, Cognisant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL, and Capgemini.

At the same conference, Secretary of Labour Keith Sonderling said neither Microsoft nor the seven other businesses will submit any new or pending Permanent Labour Certification Program (PERM) applications to the US government. Sonderling claimed that US institutions and corporations like Microsoft had become “visa mills” that were “flooding” the US with foreign labour.
