Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority will host the fifth edition of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival in Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra Region, from October 16 to October 25. Kuwait will be a guest of honour.
Kuwait’s involvement reflects the two nations’ shared cultural history and strong fraternal ties. It will promote interaction and knowledge-sharing among participants while giving visitors a chance to learn about various aspects of Kuwaiti heritage.
In addition to daily date auctions and a schedule of heritage, cultural, and family-friendly events, the festival will include 22 competitions with 180 prizes totalling Dhs4.6 million. The festival will also hold a palm tree auction for the first time at this year’s event.
The celebration, according to Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Acting Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, demonstrates the Authority’s dedication to protecting the palm tree’s cultural legacy and strengthening its position in the UAE’s national character. He added that the occasion provides a platform to promote producers and showcase the calibre and variety of Emirati dates. He continued by saying that the event supports honey producers, craftsmen, productive families, and Emirati entrepreneurs while giving farmers a chance to share knowledge and sell their production.
