India mourn Ratan Tata: Throngs of People Flock to Pay their Final Respects as the state Funeral gets Underway Today
On Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. India time, the public could pay their final respects to great industrialist Ratan Tata’s mortal remains at the NCPA Lawns at Nariman Point in Mumbai. The lifeless remains will make their last trip at 4 p.m. at the Worli Crematorium’s Prayer Hall, according to a statement from Tata Trust.
Ratan Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group, passed away on Wednesday at 86. Through a series of high-profile acquisitions, he brought a stifling and expansive Indian corporation to the world’s attention. The businessman died at Breach Candy Hospital.
The police roped off the road going to NCPA Lawns, while Marine Drive road was closed past the Oberoi hotel.
Kumar Mangalam Birla’s group chairman, Aditya Birla, came to pay the seasoned businessman his final respects. In honour of Ratan Tata, the Maharashtra government announced a one-day mourning on Thursday. The CMO of Maharashtra said on X that no official cultural or entertainment events would take place during this time, and national flags at government buildings would be flown at half-mast.
A public funeral service honouring individuals of national importance is known as a state funeral. Strict protocols are followed when providing the service. In India, a president, prime minister, past president, or governor is given a state funeral.
