In order to promote sustainable mobility and lower carbon emissions, the UAE plans to establish more than 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by the end of 2025, according to Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. “The ministry, which owns 50 percent of the UAEV, installed more than 100 EV chargers across the country in 2024 and is rapidly expanding the network to meet growing EV demand,” Al Olama said while speaking on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit preliminary day.
He highlighted that in order to guarantee a strong infrastructure that facilitates the broad adoption of EVs and is consistent with national sustainability goals, the program employs an integrated approach in partnership with the private sector and local authorities. As part of its commitment to clean energy development, the ministry wants to boost renewable energy capacity to more than 14 gigawatts by 2030, Al Olama continued.
