
In the first five months of 2025, from January to May, 8.68 million foreign visitors visited Dubai, a 7% increase over the 8.12 million visitors that stayed during the same period in 2024. The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) recently issued its Tourism Performance Report January-May 2025, which shows that the city had 1.53 million foreign tourists in May alone.
Western Europe topped the list of source markets with over 1.917 million tourists, or 22% of all visitors. Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) nations came in second and third, respectively, with 1.396 million (16%) visits.
With 1.242 million tourists (14% of the total), South Asia came in third, followed by the GCC area with 1.275 million tourists (15%). With 989,000 visits (11%), the Middle East and North Africa ranked sixth, followed by Northeast and Southeast Asia with 771,000 visitors (9%).
Africa received 346,000 tourists (4%), compared to 601,000 visitors (7%), from the Americas. 141,000 tourists came from Australia, accounting for almost 2% of all foreign visitors to Dubai then. As of the end of May 2025, Dubai’s hotel industry consisted of 825 establishments with 153,356 rooms, compared to 822 hotels with 150,202 rooms at the end of May 2024.
