Emirati adventurer Rashid Ghanem Al Shamsi has raised the UAE flag atop Mount Elbrus, Europe’s highest peak at 5,642 metres above sea level, following a grueling expedition through snowstorms and strong winds in Russia’s Caucasus mountain region.
Al Shamsi performed this accomplishment despite frigid temperatures and hard terrain, exhibiting extraordinary endurance and persistence.
Following the hoisting of the UAE flag, Al Shamsi remarked, “I give this accomplishment to my country, the UAE, and to everyone who believes that willpower makes the impossible possible.” He noted that the ascension was not just about reaching a geographic peak, but also about achieving the peak of determination and commitment.
Mount Elbrus, one of the legendary Seven Summits, is considered as one of the world’s most arduous climbs due to its topographical and meteorological challenges. Al Shamsi’s success represents a milestone in Emirati adventure and sends an inspiring message representing the enthusiasm of UAE youth and their capacity to represent their homeland on the world’s highest peaks.
