How to Transfer Your Music Collection to a Different Streaming Service

There are tools to assist with moving your collection, but many music streaming services don’t make it clear—often hiding instructions in FAQs and making the process difficult. When Apple discreetly introduced a new feature last month that lets users import libraries from competing websites, it made things easier. Apple formally implementing the option could encourage hesitant users to make the switch.

To assist consumers with importing libraries into Apple Music, the iPhone manufacturer has released a support page. Songshift is a third-party service that provides a feature hidden in your settings. Users in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States can currently access it.

Navigate to Settings, Apps, and Music on your iPhone. Selecting “Transfer Music from Other Music Services” will display a list of various streaming services. The procedure is same for Android users. Additionally, transfers can be made via a web browser at music.apple.com. You are prompted to log in to the target account on a subsequent screen after selecting a service.

You are now presented with a choice that allows you to import “All Songs and Albums” and All Playlists.” You can uncheck the playlists you don’t want if you don’t want all of them. You are unable to select specific songs or albums, though. Based on your selections, Apple Music will then duplicate your library.
