
The Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat, Dr. Omar Habtour Al Darei, emphasized the importance of embracing the opportunities of the modern era, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), which has become a reality that needs to be used in ways that benefit people, countries, and religion.
During his attendance at the 11th Ministerial Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries responsible for Islamic affairs and endowments, which was hosted in the State of Kuwait on Monday, Dr. Al Darei made this statement. Reviewing the UAE’s innovative experience as a useful example of adapting to the times, Al Darei highlighted creative projects like the incorporation of AI in sermons and mosques.
Additionally, he highlighted the UAE’s endeavors to advance coexistence principles, regulate religious matters through a thorough legal framework, and qualify religious competencies in accordance with sophisticated and well-structured curriculum.
In order to meet the needs of society, the ministerial meeting covered a wide range of important topics, such as family and generational issues, the advancement of moral, religious, and human values, the improvement of intellectual security, a balanced approach to artificial intelligence, environmental protection, and energy conservation.
