Gopichand P. Hinduja, the chairman of the Hinduja Group, died on Tuesday in a hospital in London. He was eighty-five. In corporate circles, he is known as GP. After his older brother Srichand passed away in May 2023, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Hinduja Group. His wife Sunita, sons Sanjay and Dheeraj, and daughter Rita survive him. With a net worth of 32.3 billion pounds, Gopichand Hinduja’s family was been named the richest in the UK in the Sunday Times Rich List for 2025.
After joining the family business in 1950, Gopichand Hinduja is credited with turning it from an Indo-Middle East commercial operation into a multinational corporation. Ashok Hinduja and Prakash Hinduja are his other two brothers. According to the company’s website, Gopichand, a graduate of Bombay Jai Hind College, also earned honorary doctorates from Richmond College and the University of Westminster.
Automotive, banking and finance, IT, healthcare, real estate, power, and media and entertainment are just a few of the eleven industries in which the Hinduja Group operates. Among its well-known brands are NXTDIGITAL Limited, Ashok Leyland, and IndusInd Bank. Ashok Hinduja, the youngest brother, is in charge of the group’s interests in India, while Prakash Hinduja has been active in running its business in Europe.
