The Security Council’s Approval of Trump’s Gaza Plan is Praised by the UN And EU

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the adoption of a US-backed UN Security Council resolution endorsing President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Gaza conflict. In a statement released on Tuesday, Guterres described the move as an important step toward consolidating the ceasefire and advancing peace efforts in the region.

The resolution, passed unanimously on Monday, authorizes an international stabilisation force in Gaza and supports the implementation of Trump’s 20-point plan. Guterres emphasized the need to convert diplomatic progress into tangible action on the ground, stating, It is essential now to translate the diplomatic momentum into concrete and urgently needed steps. He also reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to scaling up humanitarian assistance for Gaza’s population, which continues to face severe shortages more than a month after the ceasefire.

Despite some improvements in aid delivery, UN agencies report that the flow of humanitarian supplies remains insufficient to meet the needs of millions of displaced and traumatized Palestinians. Ricardo Pires, spokesperson for the UN children’s agency, said at a Geneva press briefing, “We are managing to get more in, but it’s not enough.” The ongoing crisis has left many without adequate food, shelter, and medical care.
