Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney-General, praised the directive of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to pardon 2,937 inmates and settle their financial penalties on the occasion of the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad. He said the decision embodies the President’s vision of promoting tolerance, human justice, and social cohesion.
Dr. Al Shamsi highlighted that the pardon aligns with the national direction to declare 2026 the “Year of the Family,” underscoring the significance of family unity and its role in building a stable and cohesive society. He noted that the initiative offers many families a renewed chance to regain stability, reunite, and strengthen bonds of compassion and togetherness.
Expressing deep appreciation to the President, Dr. Al Shamsi said the timing of the pardon, coinciding with Eid Al Etihad celebrations, mirrors the core values of the Union such as solidarity, mercy, and tolerance. He reaffirmed that the people remain at the heart of the UAE’s leadership vision, which focuses on continuous development and progress.
He added that the decision provides the pardoned individuals with a new opportunity to reintegrate into society as responsible citizens who uphold the nation’s laws and contribute positively to its growth.
