RTA Completes 595 Bus Shelters in Strategic Locations Throughout Dubai

As part of a larger project to provide 762 shelters in several important districts in Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has finished 595 public bus passenger shelters. The shelters offer a variety of amenities designed to improve public transportation riders’ overall experience and have a modern style.

All phases of the project are currently 89% complete. More than 192 million passengers utilize the new shelters each year, and they will service a significant number of bus routes more than ten routes per shelter in some locations.

“The new shelters represent a pivotal step in RTA’s efforts to develop an integrated urban environment that encourages residents and visitors to use public transport, improves quality of life, and promotes comfort and well-being,” stated Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority. RTA is dedicated to offering contemporary, cozy, and secure amenities that improve the bus network’s appeal and satisfy the demands of Dubai’s expanding metropolitan area and population.

According to Al Tayer, the sites chosen for the new shelters were selected to meet the demands of densely populated urban areas, to suit the operational needs of public bus services now and in the future, and to ensure integration with soft mobility choices.
