Pop Star Britney Spears Sells her Music Library

Independent music publisher Primary Wave has purchased Britney Spears’s song catalogue rights, making her the most recent artist to do so. The entertainment website TMZ broke the news first, stating that the singer of “Oops I Did It Again” and “Toxic” had signed the contract on December 30, based on legal documents it had obtained.

Reports indicated that it was “in the ballpark” of the alleged $200 million deal that Canadian artist Justin Bieber made in 2023 to sell Hipgnosis the rights to his songs. Reports of an agreement between Spears and Primary Wave were confirmed by an individual with knowledge of the matter. Additional information was withheld.

Primary Wave, the label that houses artists such as Whitney Houston, Prince, and Stevie Nicks, did not promptly address the request for comment. There have been no public comments from Spears.

Beginning with Baby One More Time in 1998, the 44-year-old has topped charts globally, becoming one of the most successful pop musicians of all time. Her songs like “(You Drive ‌Me) Crazy, Circus, Gimme More,” and “I’m a Slave 4 U” are included in the contract, according to TMZ. Released in 2016, “Glory” was Spears’ ninth and final studio album.
