Germany And the UAE Discuss How to Strengthen their Collaboration in Sustainable Energy

Jürgen Barke, Minister of Economics, Innovation, Digitalization, and Energy and Deputy Prime Minister of the German State of Saarland, was welcomed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), to talk about collaboration in clean and renewable energy.

Dewa representatives in attendance included Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, and Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation & the Future.

Both parties emphasized their shared commitment to fostering clean technology innovation, speeding up the global energy transition, and fortifying alliances that promote climate action and sustainable economic growth. Al Tayer described the strategic goals and flagship projects of Dewa that strengthen Dubai’s standing as a global center for green economy and clean energy solutions.

He emphasized the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which, according to the independent power producer (IPP) model, is the biggest single-site solar park in the world and is expected to produce more than 8,000 megawatts by 2030.

The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which seek to provide all of the emirate’s electricity capacity from clean sources by that year, depend heavily on the solar park.
