The UAE Maintains its Position as the Global Hub for Airline Maintenance and Repair

The UAE is solidifying its position as a key regional and global centre for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), aided by its status as a major aviation market and the presence of large and expanding fleets operated by national airlines with a strong international footprint.

The UAE is one of the region’s largest aviation markets, powered by major national carriers such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai, and Air Arabia, which together operate hundreds of modern aircraft and serve tens of millions of passengers each year. This creates a continual and growing need for maintenance, repair, and upgrade services throughout the country.

Beyond its domestic and regional position, the UAE has established itself as an integrated global destination for MRO services, attracting airlines and service providers from around the world while exporting technical and engineering services to international markets.

In 2025, specialty zones such as Dubai South and the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub experienced major developments, bolstering the country’s position in the sector. These included luring regional and international companies specializing in maintenance services, technical support, and aircraft equipment, as well as expanding the development of advanced hangars and heavy maintenance facilities.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub signed strategic agreements with a select group of global companies in 2025, including Avia Solutions Group (ASG), the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider; Atherion Aerospace, an aerospace manufacturing venture and a subsidiary of Economic Group Holdings (EGH); UUDS, a business aviation industry leader; Tariq Al Futtaim Group; and Al Burj Holding.
