A group of Filipino furniture, furnishings, and fashion designers is taking part in the ongoing “Index Interior Design & Furniture Exhibition” at the Dubai World Trade Centre, after a six-year break due to the restrictive Novel Coronavirus 2020.
The Department of Trade and Industry-Centre for International Trade and Expositions and Missions (DTI-CITEM) responded to the interest of three of the largest organisations of furniture manufacturers to “return to Index” by establishing the Philippines as the destination for the coveted enduring strength of craftsmanship and the charming yet universal creativity of handmade products through the theme “Handcrafted for the World.” Ten businesses participated in the event.
Marjo Evio, manager of the DTI-CITEM-Service Business Department, told Gulf Today that the “largest furniture manufacturer in Manila, Pampanga, and Cebu paid a courtesy call” to the then-newly appointed DTI-CITEM executive director, Romleah Juliet Pulido Ocampo, sometime in 2024 during the opening of the 90-square-meter DESIGNPhilippines pavilion on Tuesday.
One of the topics covered was the group’s potential participation in international trade shows. According to the Index, MENA is “lucrative and promising, and all the contract hospitality is taking place.
