According to Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, a young guy who used a highly combustible incendiary chemical to set fire to a public roadway in celebration of his birthday was taken into custody.
He stated that the young man did this in an effort to gain popularity online and get followers at the expense of his own safety as well as the safety of other road users and society. According to him, using public roads as a stage for risky acts and making movies to share on social media to boost viewing is totally inappropriate behavior that puts drivers in grave danger. According to Bin Suwaidan, the young man’s actions clearly violated traffic laws and are classified as irresponsible behaviors that endanger people’s lives and property.
He emphasized that igniting a fire on a public street not only puts the driver and others at risk of fire, but it also blocks traffic, confuses other drivers, damages the surrounding area, and damages the road infrastructure.
