Abu Dhabi Introduces a Customised weight-Management Program

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) and the Department of Health-Abu Dhabi (DoH) announced the opening of the first-ever personalised weight management program in the area.

This program encourages sustainable weight management and active living to dramatically lower the risks of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some types of cancer. In the end, it improves overall quality of life and health longevity by combining digital monitoring, a special reimbursement model, and customised clinical support.

The program, which is available to qualifying Thiqa members who are clinically diagnosed as overweight or obese and who are at least 18 years old, has a novel compensation approach intended to promote ongoing active involvement, responsibility, and sustained engagement.

“Our focus is on health – not just weight,” stated Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, the Undersecretary of the Department of Health. Through individualised and scientifically based solutions, this initiative empowers people and advances our goal for an active, health-conscious community. This program makes sure that every member gets exactly what they need to succeed because weight management calls for customised solutions rather than a “one-size-fits-all” strategy.
