According to the most recent data from the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) “World Trade Prospects and Statistics” report, the United Arab Emirates has achieved a historic first by ranking among the top 10 exporting nations in the world. This accomplishment demonstrates the UAE’s expanding role in the global economy and its status as a crucial hub on worldwide supply chains. The UAE’s trade in goods and services increased from $949 billion (Dhs3.5 trillion) in 2021 to $1.637 trillion (Dhs6.014 trillion) in 2025, according to the WTO report.
Exports accounted for 53% of the UAE’s $1.33 trillion (Dhs4.9 trillion) worth of products traded with other countries. In the meantime, service exports to international markets accounted for 61.4% of the Dhs1.14 trillion in services trade.
As a result, the trade surplus increased by 19% year over year to Dhs584.1 billion in 2025 from Dhs492.3 billion in 2024. These numbers, which place the UAE ninth in the world for goods exports and thirteenth for goods imports in 2025, demonstrate the crucial role the country plays in international trade.
The UAE’s foreign trade in services hit Dhs1.14 trillion in 2025, surpassing the Dhs1 trillion barrier for the first time, according to the report. This is a reflection of the UAE’s aggressive trade and economic policies, which have made the country more accessible to the rest of the globe and established it as a leader in openness, competitiveness, and leadership.
