According to The Head of the Emirates Astronomy Society, Astronomically, Ramadan will Start on February 19

The first day of Ramadan will be astronomically on February 19, 2026 (Thursday). The first day of Shawwal and Eid Al Fitr will be on March 20, 2026 (Friday), according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society, a member of the Arab Union for Space Sciences and Astronomy.

According to Al Jarwan, the crescent of Ramadan 1447 will be born on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 16:01 UAE time. It will only be visible one minute after sunset, and its age with sunset will only be about 2:12 hours, so it is anticipated that it won’t be visible. However, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, it will be visible after sunset.

Al Jarwan noted that the duration of fasting in the capital city of Abu Dhabi (from dawn to sunset) will be 12 hours and 46 minutes at the start of the Holy Month, while the duration of the day from sunrise to sunset will be 11 hours and 32 minutes. At the end of the Holy Month, the duration of fasting will be 13 hours and 25 minutes, and the duration of the day will be 12 hours and 12 minutes.

Al Jarwan stated that due to the activity of the northern winds, the maximum temperature at the start of next Ramadan would be 28°C, while the lowest will be 16°C.
