Dubai Humanitarian (DXBH) organized a vital humanitarian airlift to Kabul, Afghanistan, under the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. The airlift delivered 96 metric tonnes of life-saving medications and medical supplies to support communities dealing with ongoing humanitarian challenges.
The consignment, which left from Dubai World Central Airport (Al Maktoum International Airport), included relief supplies from UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), and the World Health Organization (WHO). Over the course of three months, the aid is anticipated to support over 250,000 people by making it possible to provide necessary healthcare services.
“This airlift to Afghanistan reflects the humanitarian community’s ability to adapt how assistance is delivered in response to rapidly evolving realities on the ground,” stated Giuseppe Saba, CEO and board member of Dubai Humanitarian. Some operations require the quick discovery and activation of new corridors, whether by air, land, or multimodal methods, while others continue through known channels. This airlift to Afghanistan and recent land shipments to Gaza and Lebanon show how many approaches are being used concurrently to continue humanitarian disaster response.
