According to the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), 167 new titles will be approved in 2025 as part of its specialized publishing and translation assistance programs. The authorized titles were chosen from 2,478 proposals that were submitted during the four months when registration was open.
Of them, 48 titles are directly financed by the SBA, 20 are through the Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund (Onshur), and 99 are under the Translation Grant. The action shows Sharjah’s ongoing dedication to promoting publication, translation, and information sharing between Arabic and other international languages.
With the addition of these chosen titles, SBA has now granted 2,405 titles in a variety of subjects and languages since the program’s inception in 2011. A key component of SBA’s plan to assist publishers, translators, and writers globally, these programs foster intellectual innovation and speed up bilateral translation between Arabic and other languages. This provides readers with access to a range of philosophical and personal experiences in multiple languages, thereby increasing the visibility of Arabic literature in international markets.
Under the leadership of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, we believe that translation is a vital communication tool for connecting people and fostering understanding and being open to other cultures,” stated Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, executive director of the SBA.
