China’s CATL Increases its Presence in the Middle East to Aid the Region’s Need for Sustainable Energy

Riyadh: To bolster its after-sales presence in the Middle East and support the region’s transition to greener energy systems, Chinese company CATL inaugurated the NING SERVICE Experience Center in Riyadh, the first and currently largest new-energy aftermarket facility outside China.

The opening coincides with the Middle East’s and Saudi Arabia’s ambitious decarbonization and electrification targets under Vision 2030 and other state programs. As part of a broader plan to cut emissions in the capital city by 50%, Saudi Arabia, for instance, has set a goal to convert 30% of Riyadh’s vehicles to electric by 2030. The transition to electric equipment is also being driven by sustainability policies, such as initiatives that encourage the use of electric forklifts.

The Riyadh plant, strategically built to address these challenges, provides full-lifecycle after-sales support, develops local technical talent, and accelerates the adoption of cutting-edge electrification and energy storage technologies.

The Riyadh center, spanning more than 7,000 square meters, includes training rooms, refurbishment facilities, exhibition areas, diagnostic and maintenance zones, and a client lounge. It is intended to serve as a platform that connects various resources, promoting industrial synergy across the ecosystem, as well as a localized service hub for the area and a demonstration of CATL’s system-level capabilities in electric mobility, energy storage, and intelligent electrification.
