The supplier filed a lawsuit in the Dubai Commercial Court of First Instance after a company refused to pay Dhs1,544,000 (roughly Dhs1.54 million) for packaging materials it had purchased from a specialized supplier. The court ordered the company to pay the full amount plus 5% interest for late payment, along with fees, expenses, and legal fees.
The case’s specifics stem from an earlier period when the supplier supplied the company with packaging materials, and the value of those materials accumulated in the company’s account based on purchase orders, official invoices, and statements. Additionally, the defendant company issued a statement acknowledging the full amount of the claim owed to the supplier.
The court file states that the supplier filed a lawsuit to assert its financial rights after the company failed to make the required payment. After hearing both sides’ arguments, the court assigned a financial expert to review the case.
Based on the case documents and the expert’s report, the court determined that the parties had a mutually beneficial commercial relationship and ordered the company to pay the institution Dhs1,544,000, plus 5% interest for late payments from the claim date until full payment, as well as fees, expenses, and legal fees. All other claims, including the request for speedy enforcement, were denied by the court.
