Eid Al Fitr in the UAE: Moon Spotted; holiday Begins March 30

The UAE will celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Sunday, March 30, according to authorities, following the discovery of the Shawwal crescent today. The sighting of the Shawwal crescent marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid al Fitr.

This implies UAE residents will have a four-day respite to celebrate the Islamic festival during the first long weekend of 2025. This is consistent with the official UAE vacation calendar, which stated that the Eid Al Fitr holiday would run from Shawwal 1 to Shawwal 3. This year, an official announcement stated that Sunday, March 30 (Ramadan 30) will also be a paid holiday.

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai confirmed to Khaleej Times that Eid prayers will begin at 6.30 a.m. in all mosques in the emirate.

The Eid Al Fitr prayer will begin at 6.30am in over 680 mosques and prayer areas across Dubai,” the IACAD stated in a statement. Click here for a complete list of Eid Al Fitr prayer times as determined by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat.

In Dubai, public parking will be free from Shawwal 1 to 3, with the exception of multi-level parking facilities. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has also stated that paid parking would return on Shawwal 4.
