Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, talked about opportunities to strengthen ties in a way that supports the priorities and shared interests of both nations and brings prosperity to their peoples, as well as bilateral cooperation, especially in the economic, trade, and development sectors.
Developments in the Middle East amid intensifying military operations and their grave consequences for regional and global security and stability were also discussed at the meeting. In this regard, His Excellency Ahmed denounced the obvious Iranian attacks that still target the United Arab Emirates and other nations in the area, pointing out that they violate both international law and state sovereignty. Additionally, he reaffirmed Ethiopia’s support for the UAE in all actions taken to protect its security, territorial integrity, and public safety.
His Highness also expressed the UAE’s support for Ethiopia at this trying time by sending his heartfelt condolences to His Excellency and the Ethiopian people for the victims of the landslides and floods caused by heavy rains in southern Ethiopia.
To avert future tensions and crises and maintain regional security and stability, all sides emphasized the need for an immediate end to the escalation and called for serious dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve unresolved issues in the region.
