For Households Earning less Than Dhs25,000 per Month, the UAE Presents an Inflation Allowance

According to Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Development, families earning less than Dhs25,000 per month would be given inflation allowances adapted to the changing social and economic landscape in the UAE.

The minister went on to say that the allowances are a component of the 2022 reformed Social Support Program, which also includes inflation-related allowances, social support services, and benefits based on social standing.

All Emirati families whose monthly income is insufficient to provide a respectable standard of life are the program’s aim. Additionally, as low-income seniors get assistance to live a decent existence, it targets retirees who were born before 2008.

The initiative enhanced the family breadwinner’s payment for pensioners over 60 from Dhs 5,000 to Dhs 13,000 per year.

According to Al Mazrui, a new category called the “Working/Retired Category” was created to encompass low-income working people and retirees. The barrier for a reasonable living is Dhs5,000, and it rises by Dhs2,000 for every 10 years of employment, reaching Dhs13,000 for the family’s primary provider. The scheme also contains further benefits for Emirati spouses who receive Dhs 3,500, Dhs 2,400 for their first child, Dhs 1,600 for their second and third children, and Dhs 800 for their fourth child. Children of determination receive Dhs 5,000, not included in the child order.
