
An official said that 14 people had died in a school collapse in Indonesia on Saturday as rescuers moved to use heavy equipment to remove dozens more people who were thought to be buried beneath the debris.
On Monday, while students were assembling for afternoon prayers, a portion of the multi-story boarding school abruptly fell. According to broadcaster Kompas TV, Suharyanto, who goes by one name, stated on Saturday that “as of today, we are still searching for 49 people who are still missing.”
As rescuers moved to utilize heavy machinery to remove areas where the victims were thought to be buried beneath the rubble, Suharyanto said more victims could be discovered.
