
The League of Arab States, represented by Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, presented the Leading Arab Personality Award in Sustainable Development to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, at the Arab Sustainability Day 2025 ceremony, which was held at the League’s headquarters in Cairo under the theme “Raising Awareness of the Importance of Sustainability in the Arab Region”.
The ceremony began with a speech by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, who emphasised the importance of promoting sustainable development concepts and striking a balance between its three dimensions: economic, social, and environmental–particularly in light of the Arab world’s growing challenges and rapid changes in various fields.
Ambassador Dr. Nada Al Ajezi, Director of the Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation – General Secretariat of the Arab League, stated that “Arab Sustainability Day aims to be a media engine that highlights the achievements of Arab countries and various stakeholders in implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It also aspires to develop an Arab ecosystem that supports these initiatives, giving a forum to exchange ideas, skills, best practices, and experiences to build a brighter future for the Arab area.
