On Thursday, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, announced the Dubai Mallathon, a community-driven campaign to encourage everyone to be physically active every day throughout the summer.
During the morning hours of 7:00 to 10:00 am, from August 1 to August 31, the program will turn retail malls in Dubai into organized health and exercise courses. Seven main retail centers in Dubai, including Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Springs Souk, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Mall of the Emirates, and Dubai Marina Mall, will have designated walking and jogging lanes as part of the effort.
Dubai Mallathon aligns with the objectives of the Year of Community, Dubai Social Agenda 2033, and Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which aim to celebrate the UAE’s architectural, cultural, and environmental heritage while providing the best living standards, residential services, and cultural and athletic events.
By integrating exercise into everyday life, Dubai hopes to establish new international standards for wellbeing, according to Sheikh Hamdan. “The city hopes to create a more lively, supportive social life, promote healthier lifestyles, and cultivate a sense of connection through meaningful initiatives that bring the community together,” he continued.
