Emirati doctors have launched the National Initiative to Promote Heart Health under the slogan “Do Not Miss the Beat” during the opening ceremony of the National Conference on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Abu Dhabi.
The initiative is a collaborative effort led by the Emirates Programme for Medical Readiness and Response (Jaheziya), the Emirates Council for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and the Emirates Society for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, under the supervision of the Emirates Medical Reserve Team and the Emirates Heart Ambassadors, in coordination with both government and private health institutions nationwide.
Its primary goals are to raise awareness about heart health, promote timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) interventions, improve access to life-saving care, strengthen the readiness and efficiency of emergency response teams, and encourage heart-healthy lifestyles across all segments of society, following international best practices and standards.
Dr. Adel Al Shamry Al Ajmi, cardiac surgeon, President of Emirati Doctors, President of Jaheziya, and Chairman of the Emirates Society for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, highlighted that cardiovascular conditions claim over 17 million lives globally each year. Locally, heart disease accounts for 22% of all deaths, the highest among all causes, underscoring the urgent need for innovative and coordinated healthcare initiatives.
