In Tamil Nadu, Modi Inaugurates the Country’s First Vertical-Lift Sea Bridge

An important turning point in India’s infrastructure development was reached on Sunday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the New Pamban Railway Bridge in Rameswaram, in the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu.

A Coast Guard ship passed beneath the bridge as the prime minister controlled its vertical lift span using a remote control. The recently opened building represents a significant advancement in domestic engineering and is the nation’s first vertical lift railway sea bridge.

Modi also inaugurated a new train service between Chennai’s Tambaram and Rameswaram, improving regional connections and making it easier for pilgrims and commuters. Several notable personalities and officials attended the ceremony, despite Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s absence due to prior commitments in the Nilgiris.

These were Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, the district collector for Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, state Minister Thangam Thennarasu, and BJP leaders K. Annamalai, Sudhakar Reddy, H. Raja, and Nainar Nagenthiran. The Prime Minister posted a spiritual experience from his trip on the social media platform X: I was fortunate to have a Darshan of the Ram Setu a short while ago while returning from Sri Lanka. Additionally, it aligned with the Surya Tilak as a divine coincidence.
