Six safety precautions have been developed by the Abu Dhabi Police that drivers must follow in case their car breaks down while they are driving. For the driver’s safety, these include pulling off the road and heading to the closest secure emergency parking space, as well as avoiding being inside a broken-down car or on the road. It is recommended that drivers only use the right-hand side of the road in an emergency if it is absolutely required. In order to warn other drivers, it is also advised that a reflective emergency triangle be positioned safely behind the car. It is also recommended that drivers activate their four-way warning signals and dial 999 for help.
A video outlining the steps to be taken in the event of a vehicle breakdown was posted by the Abu Dhabi Police Department on social media. The “Safety Path 2” campaign included this activity. The campaign uses digital traffic awareness to encourage adherence to safety procedures in the event of a car breakdown. The significance of staying off the road, finding the closest safe parking space, and avoiding being inside a broken-down vehicle are all emphasized in the video.
