India And the UAE Investigate Methods to Optimize the Advantages of CEPA

During a formal visit to Mumbai, UAE Foreign Trade Minister Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi emphasized the value of the UAE’s economic ties with India. He met with prominent figures in the Indian business community and held bilateral discussions with India’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Shri Piyush Goyal.

The success of the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into effect in 2022, and the industries that are likely to benefit more from its market access provisions were the main topics of discussion at Al Zeyoudi’s meeting with Goyal.

Al Zeyoudi emphasized the two countries’ strong economic ties as well as the advantages of in-person communication in promoting cross-border collaboration. “This visit reflects the enormous potential that remains unrealized and highlights our shared economic objectives and values,” he added. By improving access to each other’s markets, increasing industrial productivity, and promoting collaboration in critical industries, the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement has played a significant role in advancing trade and investment. The outcomes are evident: Our bilateral non-oil trade reached US$37.6 billion in the first half of 2025, up 33.9% from the same period the previous year, marking a significant step toward the lofty goals we established in 2022.
