The UAE vehemently denounced the Israeli Knesset’s preliminary approval of two draft laws intended to legalize control over one of the settlements and impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, emphasizing that this action constitutes a grave escalation, a flagrant breach of international legitimacy resolutions, and a setback to efforts to bring about a fair and comprehensive peace in the area.
The approval of two draft laws by the Israeli Knesset that aim to impose so-called “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank and illegal Israeli colonial settlements is strongly condemned by the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Egypt, Nigeria, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
International law and UN Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli actions intended to change the status, demographics, and character of the occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, including East Jerusalem, are blatantly violated by these actions.
The International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) advisory decision, which upheld the illegality of Israel’s possession of Palestinian territory as well as the invalidity of settlement construction and annexation measures in the occupied West Bank, is also violated by these actions.
