According to official media on Sunday, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un saw a live-fire test of several rocket launch systems with his teenage daughter. This was probably a reaction to continuing US-South Korean military training, which North Korea sees as an invasion drill.
Kim observed the strike rehearsal employing twelve 600mm-caliber, ultraprecision rocket launchers off North Korea’s east coast on Saturday, according to the official Korean Central News Agency.
About ten ballistic missiles were shot into the eastern sea from North Korea’s capital region, according to the South Korean military. The launches breached UN Security Council resolutions prohibiting North Korea from engaging in any missile activity, according to South Korea’s national security council.
According to KCNA, Kim stated that the exercise will give adversaries within the 420-kilometre striking range “uneasiness” and “a deep understanding of the destructive power of tactical nuclear weapons.” It seems that he was referring to US forces stationed in South Korea and South Korea itself. According to KCNA, Kim stated, “If this weapon is used, the opponent’s military infrastructure within its striking range can never survive.
