His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has honoured Konexio Africa as the winner of the ninth edition of the Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy and Support (SIARA).
The award ceremony, held at the Sharjah Book Authority headquarters, was attended by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Humanitarian Envoy for The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children.
Konexio Africa received the 500,000-dirham award in recognition of its innovative humanitarian model that links education with employment, helping refugees in East African countries such as Kenya, Malawi, and Uganda overcome poverty and achieve self-reliance. The funding will support the organisation in scaling its impact across vulnerable communities.
The event began with the UAE national anthem, followed by a short film highlighting SIARA’s enduring legacy of celebrating global initiatives that advance refugee empowerment and self-sufficiency.
