Kausar Tahir: A Supporting Hand for Women in Perimenopause and Menopause with MeNow Health
We recently had the opportunity to interview Kausar Tahir, founder and CEO of MeNow Health. With a vision to empower women with trusted and accessible inclusive guidance to menopause and its impact on overall well-being, Kausar built Me-Now. A pioneering menopause app, MeNOW My Menopause Companion, is an initiative under MeNow Health that supports women in their perimenopause and menopause journey in 6 languages and with culturally inclusive content.
A visionary in the industry, Kausar Tahir’s aim is simple: to empower women with knowledge, support employers with solutions, and normalize conversations around hormone health.
The Beginning
We started the interview by asking, “Could you start by telling us about your professional journey and the inspiration behind jumping into this industry?”
Kausar shared, “My professional journey began in clinical pharmacy, where I spent over 20 years supporting patients through some of their most vulnerable health moments. Over time, I noticed a recurring pattern: women were consistently underserved, under-informed, and often dismissed when it came to hormone-related symptoms. Women were more likely to be medically slighted by their doctor, and women of color were 2.5 times more likely to be dismissed. The consequences of not receiving care are astronomical.
I took a closer look at the health care system and realized there was a global lack of understanding and a lack of culturally relevant support. That was my turning point. I realised that if someone like me, who is a clinician, felt lost, millions of women must feel the same.
MeNow Health was born from that gap. I wanted to build a platform that empowers women with trusted, accessible, culturally inclusive guidance, and helps workplaces understand the real impact of menopause on performance and well-being. MeNOW My Menopause Companion is our first initiative under MeNOW Health that supports women in 6 languages and with culturally inclusive content.”
Lessons Learnt from the Journey
We then asked, “As a professional in this field, what are a few lessons that helped you lead your team and business?”
She explained, “She mentioned, “A few lessons have shaped everything I do. Firstly, clarity of purpose is everything. When your mission is clear, decision-making becomes easier and your team rallies behind a shared vision. Also, listen deeply. Women’s health is nuanced, so listening to users, clinicians, and my team has shaped MeNow’s entire product direction.
Moreover, hire for heart as much as skill because this work requires empathy. The right people elevate the mission far beyond what any strategy can. I am very proud of the team that I have put together. They are all strong empathetic women who believe deeply in the mission and vision of MeNOW Health.
And lastly, iterate quickly and stay humble. Building in health tech means continuous learning, and wwhat matters is adapting without ego.” ”
Setbacks at Femtech
Challenges are a part of every journey. To learn how she overcame the tough phases, we asked, “What do you feel is a major challenge in starting a business or career, and how did you overcome it?
”Kausar responded, “One of the biggest challenges was stepping into an industry that is still emerging. Femtech is often overlooked and misunderstood. Female-backed startups still only receive 2% of VC funding. Given that almost 50% of startups are female-led, this is a grossly underfunded segment of the startup ecosystem.
There were moments where I felt like I had to justify why perimenopause mattered, why we should be talking about it, and why we need to reach marginalized communities. The more I spoke to women, the clearer it became that this issue affects half the world’s population and yet remains one of the least discussed.”
“I overcame the challenge by: leaning into the mission, surrounding myself with mentors and experts who believed in the work, and grounding every decision in evidence and empathy.
Resilience comes naturally when your ‘why’ is strong. Since launching the app in May 2025 we have made waves of progress. And I firmly believe that’s because of our strong ‘why’. We are approaching this with empathy, resolve, and purpose,” she added.
What’s Next for MeNow
Interested to learn more, we asked Kausar Tahir to share the plans for her offerings and additions for the future, if any.
Kausar reflects, “At MeNow, we’re building an end-to-end menopause support ecosystem.
MeNOW My Menopause Companion. Available on both App Store and Google Play. The app is in 6 languages (English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Urdu, Hindi) and presents information in a culturally sensitive manner, making sure we include the women as a key stakeholder in their health journey. The app provides symptom tracking, personalised support, and early risk identification.
Workplace Menopause Training, which includes clinical guidance, HR frameworks, and one-year access to the MeNow app. One in 10 women leaves the workforce during perimenopause — we want to change that. We are also going to be focusing on strategic partnerships with Clinic and Hospital Partnerships in the new year as education is required on both sides, the clinicians and the community.
Our goal is simple: empower women with knowledge, support employers with solutions, and normalise conversations around hormone health.”
Reshaping Healthcare with AI
AI is everywhere today and businesses are increasingly adapting to it. So, we asked Kausar, “What are your thoughts?”
“AI is powerful, but in healthcare, it must be used responsibly. For MeNow, AI is not about replacing clinicians; it’s about enhancing access, improving accuracy, and reducing inequalities.
However, AI can easily become Western-centred, biased, or culturally blind. That’s why our focus on using AI carefully is to personalise support, to improve early identification of risk, and to empower women with evidence-based insights — not overwhelm them.
AI should never remove the human element. It should elevate it,” Kausar mentioned.
Words of Wisdom for Beginners
Lastly, we asked, “What would be your advice to beginners in this field or any field of business?”
“My advice is to start with a real problem, one you care about deeply. Also, remember that progress beats perfection — always. And, build your network early, as mentors, peers, and advisors will carry you through the hardest days.
Be brave enough to be a beginner. Every expert started with uncertainty.
And most importantly, choose purpose over popularity. When your work creates genuine social impact, everything else — partnerships, talent, investment — follows,” Kausar added.
