Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, announced that traffic patrols have detained several teenagers caught riding modified electric bikes at speeds exceeding 100 km/h on jogging and walking tracks in the Nad Al Sheba area and other parts of the emirate.
He warned that such reckless behavior poses a serious threat to public safety, endangering athletes, pedestrians, and the young riders themselves. Al Mazrouei explained that electric bikes are designed for light commuting or recreational use and should not be operated on sports tracks. However, some individuals enhance their bikes to reach dangerously high speeds, making them comparable to motorcycles and violating existing safety regulations.
In response to community complaints, Dubai Police, in coordination with partner agencies, launched intensive field campaigns targeting these violations. Patrols apprehended offenders, took legal action, and summoned their parents to raise awareness about the risks of unsupervised vehicle use among teenagers. Al Mazrouei added that the General Department of Traffic confiscated 101 electric bikes and issued 130 fines across various locations within one week.
