Al Bait Al Gharbi in the Heart of Sharjah hosted a press conference where the Higher Organising Committee officially announced the launch and details of the 23rd edition of Sharjah Heritage Days. The event will run from February 4 to 15 under the theme “Radiance of Authenticity,” in the presence of Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, Fernando Figueirinhas, Ambassador of Portugal to the UAE, and representatives from traditional and digital media.
Moving away from a standard press briefing, the organisers presented the announcement as a cultural showcase. The programme opened with a short theatrical performance, followed by live folk dances and displays of traditional crafts created on site.
Guests were guided through heritage exhibits that portrayed everyday Emirati life, offering a practical and engaging preview of this year’s festival themes. The setting blended deep-rooted traditions with a contemporary presentation.
Ambassador Fernando Figueirinhas said Portugal was honoured to be named Guest of Honour for this edition, noting that the participation aligns with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Portugal. He described the occasion as a meaningful celebration of the strong cultural and historical ties between the two nations.
