An 11-year-old child who got stuck for more than nine hours near his school after he slipped between two boulders was freed by rescuers, a New Hampshire fire chief said on Monday. About 3.15 in the morning, the boy was forced out of the boulders in Windsor. The Wediko School, where the boy attends, claims that he was released after being evaluated at a hospital.
The school, a residential treatment centre for boys, said on Monday that on Sunday night, while being supervised, a student exploring a rocky area on campus slipped between two boulders when sticks and debris gave way beneath them.
The statement stated that after several staff members tried in vain to free the student, they were unable to do so and quickly called the local emergency rescue services. “The student was successfully rescued in the early morning hours by emergency responders who worked nonstop through the night.”
Just before six o’clock on Sunday night, firefighters received a call, and upon arrival, Hillsborough Fire Chief Kenny Stafford reported that they discovered the boy “lodged between the crevasse” in a large boulder. According to him, they used lubricant and ropes to save the child. The state police, the Fish and Game Department, and first responders from at least five other towns helped with the rescue in Windsor, southern New Hampshire.
