According to the Saudi Ministry of Interior, anybody who are caught providing sanctuary to visitors with valid visas in Makkah or the holy sites during the Hajj season of 2025 would be subject to severe punishment.
This measure applies to any type of lodging, including hotels, apartments, private homes, lodging facilities, or Hajj housing sites, as well as to anybody who hides them or helps them stay in Makkah and the Holy Sites between Dhu Al-Qidah 01 and Dhu Al-Hijjah 14.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said Monday that offenders might face fines of up to SAR 100,000. The ministry said penalties would rise in proportion to the number of violators lodged, sheltered, or aided. Prior of Monday’s yearly Hajj journey in Makkah, a Muslim pilgrim visits the Grand Mosque. AP
The ministry also called on the people to abide by Hajj rules and guidelines, which are intended to protect pilgrims and enable them to carry out their rites in peace and comfort. Additionally, it urged the people to report any infractions of these rules by dialling 999 in other parts of the Kingdom or 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern areas.
As police tighten down on illicit travel into the Holy City of Makkah, Saudi Arabia arrested over 269,000 individuals without permission for the yearly Hajj pilgrimage, officials announced Sunday.
