Saudi Arabia Uses Drones to Stop iIlegal Pilgrims from Doing the Hajj without a Permit

This year, Saudi officials are using cutting-edge technologies, namely drones for surveillance, to stop illegal pilgrims from entering Makkah during the Hajj. According to international media, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is using cutting-edge technology to strengthen its attempts to detect unauthorised passengers before the Hajj.

The foreign media also reported that Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Public Security had released a video showing a drone with a high-resolution camera keeping an eye on vehicles and violators trying to transport unapproved pilgrims without the required official permits, also known as the Nusuk Card.

Saudi security forces are ruthlessly cracking down on unauthorised pilgrims and anyone who assist them as part of the well-known campaign “No Hajj Without a Permit.”

In the publicly available video, a drone spots a suspicious automobile in the desert that may be transporting unauthorised pilgrims. Security patrols quickly catch the offenders when the drone sends them the coordinates of the vehicle.

“Saudi Arabia’s commitment to modernising the pilgrimage experience through innovative technology demonstrates their dedication to ensuring pilgrims’ comfort and convenience,” said Muhammad Umar Butt, a spokesman for Pakistan’s Religious Ministry, in praise of Saudi authorities’ initiative.
