With the support and direction of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority and Founder and Honorary President of the Emirates Publishers Association, the emirate of Sharjah has launched the second edition of the Sharjah Literature Festival (January 5–11), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The Emirates Publishers Association and the Sharjah Book Authority collaborated to organize the event, which is held in University City Hall in Sharjah.
This year’s event, themed “A Community Woven Through Tales,” offers visitors ample opportunities to engage in a wide range of activities. In addition to educating audiences to the newest trends in writing and creativity, the festival acts as an active yearly platform that showcases Emirati literary innovation and offers a venue for meaningful engagement between authors and readers.
It supports the expansion and development of the literary landscape as well as encouraging innovation in society. This year, the festival features 24 activities, such as panel discussions, poetry evenings, musical and cultural performances, and a notable collection of writers, thought leaders, creatives, and artists.
